Can everyone really build the metaverse?
It’s true, the full potential of the metaverse is still a ways off. But what most people don’t know is that they already have metaverse technology right at their fingertips — and it’s more accessible than they may think.
By tapping into creators and pushing the boundaries of SparkAR technology, we created a series of interactive billboards that invited everyone to be a creator in the metaverse.
We partnered with 3D artists @louloujoao, @tippydreamer and @planttdaddii to create a series of imaginative 3D billboards in cities across America.
We then worked with SparkAR creators to bring those billboards to life, and allow the people passing by to personalize the worlds shown on the billboards.
These 3D, interactive billboards allowed people to build in the metaverse with just a few simple clicks.
When visitors scanned the QR codes, they were brought to interactive filters tied to the physical location of the billboard. From there, they were invited to customize and create their very own versions of the billboards.
For people in cities without billboards, we made the world-building experience accessible on Instagram — so that no matter where someone lived, they could still play a role in creating the metaverse.
And to bring the experience even closer to people, our creators went behind-the-scenes to show how they got inspired and brought their 3D pieces to life.
